Plain talk, always
No jargon, no mystery. We tell you what we're doing, what it costs, and when it's done — in words you don't need a design degree to follow.
We're a small shop on Bruckner Boulevard that does one thing: give independent shows a calm, well-made look they can run with for years. No big agency runaround — just steady, careful work and plain answers.
River Lantern started because we kept finding podcasts we loved — thoughtful hosts, real guests, hours of careful work — wrapped in a cover that looked like an afterthought. A muddy photo, a free font, text you couldn't read at the size people actually scroll past.
So we set up a small bench near the river and the Bruckner, and made it our whole job to fix that. We treat a cover like a drawing set — measured, labeled, built to a spec — not a one-off picture you cross your fingers on.
We stayed small on purpose. You talk to the people drawing your art, start to finish, and nobody disappears into a layer of account managers. That's the part we're proud of.
You're trusting us with the face of something you've poured hours into. Here's how we try to earn that.
No jargon, no mystery. We tell you what we're doing, what it costs, and when it's done — in words you don't need a design degree to follow.
Every cover is drawn at thumbnail size first — the size a listener really sees. If it works there, it works everywhere. Pretty-at-full-size isn't enough.
You leave with everything named, measured, and in every size you need, plus a one-page sheet. No locked files, no coming back to us just to swap a title.
You know the full number before we start. No surprise add-ons, no meter running quietly in the background while you wait.
Send your current cover and an episode link. We'll give you an honest read — for free — on what's working and what we'd change.
There's no front desk and no hand-off. The person who sketches your cover is the person who exports your final files and answers your email. We keep the roster small so nothing falls through the cracks and nothing gets lost in translation.
We work in daylight hours, keep our heads down, and reply to every message that comes in — on weekdays, between 8 and 7. If something's taking shape slowly, we'll tell you why rather than go quiet.

If you've never hired a designer before, here's exactly what happens — so there are no silent gaps where you wonder what's going on.
A short message or a quick call. Who it's for, how it sounds, what you want listeners to feel. We do the listening.
One page: what you'll get, what it costs, and roughly when. You say yes before any meter starts.
Two or three cover and mark ideas, drawn small first. Honest options, not a fog of forty to pick from.
The full kit, named and measured, with two rounds of edits built in and a one-page sheet so you never have to guess.
Weekdays 8am–7pm. We read every message and reply with real next steps — never a sales pitch.
